Shackleton’s grave

Sir Ernest Shackleton visited South Georgia several times during his Antarctic expeditions. Shackleton died unexpectedly in 1922 from a heart attack at the beginning of a new Antarctic expedition. His widow chose South Georgia as his final resting place. He was buried at Grytviken and a toast (with Whisky preferably) at his grave is a tradition with travellers.
