This was an amazing trip. The Crew and guides were spectacular, always willing to share and explain things with a smile on their faces. I would recommend this group and this trip to any and everyone, who wishes to say that they have been to Antarctica. The scenic views, the wildlife, just incredible. We had an extraordinary expedition that gave us monumental memories. Thank you! N & C
The expedition on the m/v Plancius to the Antarctic Peninsula was priceless. I loved every moment of it, even crossing the Drake Passage. We were incredibly lucky with the weather which allowed us to kayak every day. The staff and expedition leaders were amazing with their service and knowledge about Antarctica and the wildlife. We also saw humpback whales, seals, penguins and albatrosses—to name a few. I also camped overnight in a bivy (do it! but bring ear plugs). My fellow passengers were from Europe, the US, Australia and Asia and a range of age groups which was great. The food served was outstanding and they catered to carnivores and vegetarians. We even had a BBQ at the back of the boat one evening with disco and music as we were sailing past icebergs! It was an unforgettable trip of a lifetime and I would recommend it to anyone who loves photography, want to learn about wildlife and most of all have a great time with likeminded people who are passionate about Antarctica and its conservation.
Trip was excellent, a one in a life time experience. I was actually surprised by the skilled guides we had and the quality of food on-board. Probably I will now have to plan an arctic cruise...
Great experience. I loved every single moment of this trip, even when the Drake Shake tested us seriously. It was a privilege to be there. I wish to go back... Ross Sea? Weddel Sea?... Who knows... For the time being I enjoy the memories. Top staff. Thank you!!!
fabulous stay on the plancius food was excellent beyond expectation kind staff and crew expedition guides were knowledgable, supportive, friendly and accessible comfortable stay on board amazing environment and trip
All was well organised. Very friendly personal and very good dinners and breakfasts. Verry interesting readings and lectures. All well organised. Very good atmosphere! The rooms were very nice and. Comfortable. We learned a lot about wildlife, and history. It was very worth doing it!
What a fantastic experience I’ve had on the great Ortelius! All staff throughout the voyage were friendly and knowledgeable and went out of their way to make the trip a very memorable and enjoyable one. The legendary Scotsman Bill Smith needs a special mention for his all round enthusiasm, stories, drawings and care of his trainee guides. As for Antarctica, mind blowing, unreal, well, all of those types of words, can only just describe it.
I agree with Stephanie. It was so great trip to Antarctic, with m/v Plancius and it's crew!!!
My trip to Antarctica on board m/v Plancius by far exceeded my expectations. We were fortunate enough to have exceptional weather,.allowing us to make the most of the continuous activities. With 2 shore excursions and 2 Zodiac tours, amongst the icebergs, whales, penguins and seals each day, coupled with daily kayaking and a night camping, you would think there’d be no time for anything else. However there was. In the evenings and during the transit across the Drake Passage and back, there were presentations in the lounge, on history of Antarctica, the local wildlife, weather etc etc. These were conducted by scientists and other members of the staff with degrees in specific areas. The meals were of a high standard. The ship was quite comfortable. All staff were professional, courteous and very helpful. The kayaking guide was a real character and made each kayaking trip one to remember. This trip will will be embedded in my mind for ever.
Visiting Antarctica is truly a once in a lifetime experience and Oceanwide is the company to go with. In addition to comfortable accommodations on the ship and great food, they worked incredibly hard to make sure we got the most of our trip — they did everything possible to optimize the number of activities and landings we had. If we were unable to land because of weather or ice, they scheduled lectures or other interesting and fun activities. What makes Oceanwide stand out is their commitment to conservation and education, and top tier guides and staff. I was so impressed with the operation, the friendliness and welcoming environment, and the level of service!
Quite incredible trip. Truly, intimately, and fully experienced the wild Antarctic environment and its wildlife. Highly recommend kayaking. The expedition staff were exceptionally helpful, enthusiastic, knowledgeable and friendly. Zodiac trips and landings where phenomenal experiences. Thankyou!
Our visit to the Antarctic Peninsula could not have been better. Even the weather teamed up to provide a great experience. We had a calm Drake Passage South and maybe a bit less so going North. The experience of a stark Antarctic with many different forms of wildlife will stay for a long time. The knowledge of the seasoned and highly qualified Expedition crew was first rate with on-the-spot commentaries about marine animals, birds, geology, history etc. There was a constant emphasis on safety and making a minimal impression on the pristine environment. The 113 passengers were of all ages and mixed well; few were "cruise ship" types, most were there for as a first experience on ship and many were academic or professional of an independent mind. Food and accommodation exceeded expectations.
Quite simply, the most outstanding trip! The natural beauty of the Antarctic Peninsula with its abundant wildlife and pristine ice structures is breathtaking. I paid extra for the camping and kayaking options and I’m so pleased I did. We were able to kayak up to 7 times, though I opted to keep it to 5 times so I could also do the some of the shore landings and zodiac cruises. The expedition staff were amazing as were the hotel staff on the ship. The expedition staff came from a range of backgrounds, many scientific and all were passionate about Antarctica. The food was excellent. Vegetarian options were always available. Food was always fresh and tasty. I can’t recommend this trip enough.
A great time with great staff and crew service! I’d definitely recommend this team to anyone wanting to travel to the polar regions.
Sehr motivierte Crew, sauberes Schiff, ausgezeichnete Küche.
