Q: How long has Oceanwide Expeditions existed?

Oceanwide was founded in December of 1993. We made our first Arctic voyage in 1994 and our first Antarctic voyage in 1996. Though we began operations under our current name in 1993, our roots in polar expeditions began much earlier with our predecessor company, the Plancius Foundation, which operated a number of voyages (mostly around Svalbard) from 1981 to 1996. Many Oceanwide employees began with the Plancius Foundation, and some are still with us today. Our first vessel was Rembrandt van Rijn, which we originally operated in Belize and the Galápagos and which we still sail today in Svalbard and northeast Greenland.
