Oceanwide Expeditions donates €1060 to nature charities

by Oceanwide Expeditions News 31.05.2023

This year we will donate €1,060 to the following conservation charities based on guest reviews: World Wildlife Fund, BirdLife International, 4Ocean, and the Falklands Conservation.

This year we will donate €1,060 to the following conservation charities based on passenger reviews: World Wildlife Fund, BirdLife International, 4Ocean, and the Falklands Conservation.

These donations are the latest result of our yearly offer (2022, 2019) to donate €5 for every review a passenger leaves on our website. Participating guests are encouraged to name the organization to which they want their individual donations to go.

Having completed our Arctic 2022 and Antarctic 2022-23 seasons, we are happy to report we have received 269 new reviews out of 816 total. Our average rating is currently 9.6 out of 10.

Based on these reviews, our donations will be divided as follows:

  • World Wildlife Fund (66 reviews, €330)
  • Birdlife International (20 reviews, €100)
  • 4Ocean (75 reviews, €375)
  • Falklands Conservation (52 reviews, €260)

4Ocean is an American company working to remove plastic waste from the oceans. Its efforts are largely funded by the sale of bracelets made from recycled materials. The company has pledged to remove one pound of trash from the ocean and coastline for each bracelet sold.

BirdLife International is a global partnership of organizations that seek to conserve birds, bird habitats, and global biodiversity. Many of the areas we visit in the Arctic and Antarctic are designated Important Bird Areas by BirdLife based on their rare or endangered species.

The World Wide Fund for Nature, or WWF (also the World Wildlife Fund), is an international non-governmental organization that works to preserve the wilderness and reduce human impact on the environment.

Falklands Conservation is a charity designed to protect the environment and wildlife of the Falkland Islands, one of our beloved and most longstanding travel destinations in the South Atlantic.
