Narsarsuaq, gateway to the Viking Trails

​The population of Narsarsuaq is around 200 and their main occupation is the local airport and in tourism. In Viking times, between 1000 and 1500 AD, the area around this fjord saw many settlements.

Erik the Red

It was near present-day Narsarsuaq that the Icelandic Viking Erik the Red decided to stay. In Gardar and Brattahlíð traces of these Vikings can still be seen.
