Thank you Oceanwide Expedition for this amazing tour on the Rembrandt van Rijn. A very welcoming captain (Joachim) and crew and experienced guides (Jan and Chloé) ensured us a great week. Our main wish was to meet Orca’s and Humpback Whales, searching and feeding the herring in the fjords of Troms and this has been fulfilled. We really recommend a tour like this because it is such a privilege to see these majestic animals in their natural habitat and to leave them likely undisturbed thanks to the considerate manoeuvres by the captain. We had everything the weather can provide in January, frozen rain, snow storm, heavy winds, and sun! Yes, we were the lucky folk who could say hello to the sunlight after a long wintertime period without daylight. But we had not really cleary nights, so The Northern Lights were easily visible in 2 nights. So we will come back!

Amazing trip, great sceneries and amazing wildlife encounters! Fantastic guides, loved it!

Zunächst die positiven Aspekte: Ein altes Schiff ist ganz nett. Und wenn dann gesegelt wird, hat es seinen speziellen Reiz. Die Crew war sehr aufgeschlossen, stets ansprechbar und hilfsbereit. Wir haben Wale und Nordlichter und tolle Landschaften gesehen. Soweit wurde das Reisekonzept eingehalten. Damit dann die negativen Punkte: Nur Wale und Nordlichter? An Bord war ein Zodiak, - es wurde nicht benutzt. Wir sind jeden Abend einen anderen Hafen angefahren, Kontakt zu den Orten, den Menschen oder zu Sehenswürdigkeiten oder Besonderheiten? - Fehlanzeige. Wanderungen als Highlight? Ich hatte ehern den Eindruck, dass der Reiseleiter die Aufgabe hatte die Zeit bis zum Abendessen zu füllen. Das soll nicht seinen Einsatz schmälern. Es ist das Konzept... Noch ein Wort zur Versorgung: es ist eine niederländische Reederei , folglich sind die verfügbaren Lebensmittel mitgebracht, das Frühstück erhält holländische Züge, norwegische Einflüsse sind nicht wahrnehmbar. Elchwurst, Geitost oder andere typisch norwegische Speisen trifft am nicht an. Wobei anzumerken ist, der Koch ist gut, aber er kann nur verarbeiten, was bereitgestellt wird. Und da sind wir wieder bei der Reederei.

Trip far exceeded our expectations. The expedition guides and the Doctor Moniek were very knowledgeable, patient, kind, and wonderful. We got to know them fairly well. it was hard to say goodbye at the end of the trip. The places we went , the scenery we saw, hiked over and through, was truly new unspoiled, uncharted territory. Best ever trip and I share the experience with everyone and recommend this trip and others that Oceanwide offers

North Norway - Showshoe(hike) - Aurora Borealis

This was truly an amazing adventurous trip with Oceanwide on the Rembrandt van Rijn. This classic three masted sailing ship was compact but comfortable with a very welcoming captain, crew, guides, and group on board. The scenery on this trip was truly breathtaking with snowshoe excursions an excellent opportunity to see the fjord country up close. The guides (Bergit Lutz and Beau Pruneau) were extremely knowledgeable, personable, and thoughtful. Bergit provided a great presentation on the arctic environment and restoration efforts. Some of the highlights of the trip were seeing the northern lights (4 nights), visiting the small villages, sitting out on the deck and enjoying the incredible views of the northern fjords, and putting up all the sails to ride the wind. I would highly recommend this trip, especially for someone with a more adventurous spirit.

I want to thank the crew of the Rembrant van Rijn, 2/22 to 2/29 2020, for giving me a trip of a life time. My taking this trip caused reservations by many as I am 86 years of age. My son, William, and his wife, Justina accompanied me so I wasn't traveling alone, but still such a small ship, going above the Arctic Circle in February was not something many senior citizens would undertake. The crew were always near by to give me a hand or help me in any way I needed. They even lined me up with a snowmobile for one evening adventure as I wasn't comfortable walking to it. They made me feel secure so that I could fully enjoy the trip and when it came to an end lined us up with a taxi to the airport. I can't think of anything more they could have done. The trip was amazing, the scenery breathtaking, and they even put the sails up to give us the joy of actually sailing. Please let them know how much I appreciated all they did and how much the trip meant to me. Thank you all

Seven night cruise arranged through Naturetrek. Despite some varied weather (only to be expected in January) the crew and leaders ensured that we enjoyed an excellent experience. We had great views of the whales and Northern lights. Our shore excursions were interesting and at times eventful - snow shoes provided an interesting challenge for some of us and a lot of laughter. Our safety was clearly a priority for the crew and the itinerary was shaped to get the best out of the available light and the weather conditions. We were delighted to get the sails up for a while, the Rembrandt is a really special boat to sail on. The Rembrandt was comfortable and the staff on board looked after us well with plenty of good food. The lectures were interesting and the Oceanwide leaders and our Naturetrek leader worked well together.

I like everything specially the crew and the entusiasm of the guides.of corse, the place was wonderful. I hope to come again on bord in the future

excellent trip that met our expectations in terms of magical landscapes, interesting naturalistic observations and perfect organization (outings and stewardship). Wonderful cruise that leaves us with great memories and the desire to renew the experience.

Die Reise war ein Erlebnis. Die Crew und die Expeditionsmannschaft haben hervorragende Arbeit geleistet. Man kann die Gesellschaft und das Reiseprogramm für Arktik Liebhaber nur empfehlen.

Scenery is one thing. And for me the chief reason to visit Svalbard and Greenland. Others may focus more on wildlife. On this cruise the unexpected highlight was the great interaction between the passengers and the expedition staff. They gave prepared talks in the lounge, they drove the Zodiacs, they were full of knowledge of the environment through which we walked or bumped our way in the Zodiacs. And they were totally bilingual, changing seamlessly from German to English and providing interpreter services too. What a talented group. It was good to have shared a ship with you.

Die Reise war rundum grossartig. Wir sind begeistert. Schiffsbesatzung, Crew und Guides waren alle perfekt. Die Landgänge und Vorträge waren toll. Wir haben nichts zu beastanden. Das Essen war vorzüglich und die Unterkunft wie man es sich auf einem Schiff vorstellt (mit einem Bullauge :)) Jeder Landgang war spannend, interessant und sehr schön. Die Vegetation, Gletscher, Berge, das Licht ... einfach wunderbar! Wir möchten uns ganz herzlich bei Allen, die etwas zum gelingen der Reise beigetragen haben, bedanken! Super Job habt ihr gemacht. Vom Beginn der Reise (Begrüßung), über die Ausflüge mit den Zodiacs - ein spitzklasse GuidesTeam. Die Guides haben sich bei den Touren und auch Nachbesprechungen viel Zeit genommen. Auch wurden die Touren sehr respektvoll gegenüber der Natur ausgeführt. Ebenfalls das Essen am Bord und der Service waren rund um die Uhr sehr sehr gut! Der Höhepunkt war die Fahrt zum 81° Breitengrad im Packeis und dann haben wir noch einem Polarbären sehen. Ein Traum wurde für uns wahr!
