Oceanwide Expeditions Donates €620 to Charity Based on Passenger Reviews

by Oceanwide Expeditions News 14.05.2019

Regions: Antarctica, Arctic

Thanks to our passengers, we’re donating €620 to four separate charities: Plastic Oceans International, World Wide Fund for Nature, BirdLife International, and 4Ocean.

This donation is the result of an offer we launched to donate €5 for every review a former passenger left on our website to a charity of their choice. Since then we’ve received 167 reviews, of which 124 people chose a charity, amounting to a total donation of €620.

The breakdown of these donations are as follows:

  • 61 reviews for Plastic Oceans (€305)
  • 42 reviews for WWF (€210)
  • 13 reviews for Birdlife International (€65)
  • 8 reviews for 4Ocean (€40)

Plastic Oceans International is a global non-profit organization that addresses plastic pollution and how it impacts Earth’s water, human life, and wildlife.

The World Wide Fund for Nature, or WWF (also the World Wildlife Fund), is an international non-governmental organization that works for wilderness preservation, reducing human impact on the environment.

BirdLife International is a global partnership of conservation organizations seeking to conserve birds, bird habitats, and global biodiversity. Many of the areas we visit in the Arctic and Antarctic are designated Important Bird Areas by BirdLife based on the rare or endangered species there.

4Ocean is a United States company whose goal is to remove plastic waste from the ocean, funded via bracelets made from recycled materials. The company has pledged to remove one pound of trash from the ocean and coastlines for each bracelet sold.

We at Oceanwide are very pleased to see the success of this donation offer and intend to continue it. Please leave a review (and select a donation) on our website if you’ve embarked on one of our polar expedition cruises!
