This expedition exceeded all our expectations. We went to experience the Arctic and that's what we did. The pack ice, views, wildlife ...all wonderful. Fair Isle was uncharacteristically hot in the British heat wave - the puffins and skuas on form. Jan Mayen was experienced as it should be - wet and wild. The pack ice was just stunning - so inspirational for art work and Svalbard - wow - field sketching at 2am in the morning - it just had to be done! The landings were all exciting and to see polar bears, whales, walruses - brilliant. The blue fulmars accompanied us in the north and are now a favourite - little albatrosses of the north. The ship, staff, lectures - all splendid and the food was wonderful! Thank you for the most amazing experience - we'll be back!

¿Cómo es el clima en Jan Mayen?
El clima en torno a Jan Mayen a menudo no es tan bueno: se dice que el clima es malo 362 días del año. Puede haber fuertes lluvias, viento y la niebla, pero luego, poco después, el sol puede abrirse paso y el día se vuelve claro. En junio, cuando nuestros barcos visitan Jan Mayen, la temperatura promedio es de alrededor de 2º a 3º C (36º a 37º F).
¿Qué llevar en un viaje a Jan Mayen?
Aunque no siempre hace frío, hay que llevar ropa de abrigo e impermeable a Jan Mayen. Pantalón impermeable y Campera rompevientos, para la lluvia y las salpicaduras de agua de mar que entra en el Zodiac. Además camperas de polar, guantes y un gorro. A bordo de nuestros buques Plancius, Ortelius y Hondius se proveen botas de goma para los desembarcos.
