Sailing under the midnight sun & along the ice edge

Experience the Arctic’s 24-hour days as you sail some of the far north’s most active areas for viewing both marine mammals and seabirds

Region: Arctic

Destinations: Fair Isle, Svalbard, Jan Mayen

Sail the Arctic ice edge under the midnight sun

The midnight sun is to the Arctic summer what the northern lights are to the Arctic’s spring and autumn, a surreal solar phenomenon that basks visitors in 24-hour daylight and allows for truly great photographical conditions.

While we’re sailing under the midnight sun, we will also skim the edge of the Arctic sea ice, where several species of exotic seabird and marine wildlife might appear. Just to name a few, these animals include bowhead whales, harp seals, a wide variety of seabirds, and even the slight chance of polar bears.
