Gary Prescott

United KingdomUnited Kingdom

I am the Biking Birder and in both 2010 and 2015 I cycled around the UK visiting every RSPB (Royal Society for the Protection of Birds) and WWT (Wildfowl& Wetland Trust) nature reserve. That is over 240 nature reserves visited and enjoyed. I did this both years by cycling over 8,000 miles each year to them all in order to raise money for charity. I am the current British Green record holder and I will be doing a Green year list again next year. I passionately believe in saving wildlife for future generations. I have made it my mission to do as much as I can to help people and nature.

Gary's motivation

To visit the Antarctic must be the dream of anyone who loves to experience wildlife and see spectacular scenery first hand. It is definitely one of my 'bucket list' ambitions. Yet despite the fact that it would be a dream to go I would put my place on it up for raffle and give the money raised to charity. It is stated that the cost of the trip is $25,000. What that would do for the four charities that I support each year is tremendous and far more important than my own personal pleasure. $6.250 for each charity. Money for the RSPB, the WWT, Asthma UK and the Chaskawasi-Manu project in Peru. Who knows what a raffle would raise? One day I may get to Antartica. To see Scott's hut, incredible. To see and smell (!) penguin colonies, fantastic. Ice, snow and the seabirds over the sea, albatrosses, petrels and of course how could I forget to mention the cetaceans. One day.....

Blue Whale – Blue whales can truly claim the title of “gentle giants.” The largest creatures known to have ever lived on Earth, their tongues can outweigh elephants, their hearts can outweigh cars.
